McCall’s Design Star – Design Wall Monday – September 13

Well, the quilt has to be finished today for the first McCall’s Design Star Challenge (I have to have the picture in by midnight) and it is pretty much finished – here are a few shots of the quilt as it progressed.

In the end I went with Black and an Indigo form the Kona Solids – the Eggplant tended to gray down some of the colors.

Here are a few of the blocks (Sunrise, Sunset)

Here is how the blocks looked as they were being positioned for the final layout.

A close-up of the sewn top

A wide-shot of the top with all the blocks

BUT – this isn’t the finished top – because it isn’t finished yet!!! Really, it’s true I still need to add a little something –   stop back on Wednesday for the FINAL quilt top – and also a look at were I started with the design and how I got to the final result!

All of the colored fabrics are from the Fizz collection by Patrick Lose from Kaufman Fabrics -the solids are all Kona Solids (Robert Kaufman).

Stop by Judy’s blog to see what everyone else is doing

And – mark your calendars voting begins on WEDNESDAY!!!  September 15

  1. As for a pattern being published – that most likely will happen – I need to check with the folks at McCall's to see what the ground rules are for quilt designs that were entered in the competition. So, stay tuned – I will let you know as soon as I know!
