Design Muse – July 8 – The Cloisters

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to the Cloisters -it is a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and contains their much of their Medieval Art Work. It is a building that is made of of parts of buildings that Mr. Rockefeller bought and brought to New York. It is a special place at the tip of Manhattan Island.

A shot of the upper wall in one of the courtyards – I love how the sun comes through the ceiling and casts different shadows on the wall. This could be an interesting quilt block or quilt using this as a guide for shapes of blocks as well as value placement.

A view of a row of columns in one of the courtyards.

Here is a fun column – sort of like Ribbon Candy! (this shot is for Debby who is the queen of Ribbon Candy Quilting!)

Here are a few shots of some of the upper parts of the other columns.

Questionwhere do you find your inspiration – or – where do you go/what do you do to get recharged with new ideas? Post your comments below

Stop by next Thursday for some Color Inspiration – and don’t forget to vote in the McCall’s Design Contest – click on the link in the right sidebar.
